Key Ingredients for Classic Buffalo Chicken Dip

Chicken

To make things go a bit quicker, you can purchase a rotisserie chicken. Many supermarkets even sell rotisserie chicken pre-shredded. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs will also work great.

Buffalo Sauce

To appease multiple pallets, I opt for a mild sauce like Sweet Baby Rays. However, use your favorite homemade or store-bought version in your desired heat preference.

Cream Cheese

You’ll want to use a full-fat cream cheese for this recipe. A lower-fat version can give a runner texture.

Seasonings

This dip is a classic and really relies on classic flavors such as garlic, onion, celery, and Ranch.

Cheese

We love extra sharp white cheddar cheese, however, for an extra kick pepper jack would also be delicious!

Helpful Tips and Variations for Classic Buffalo Chicken Dip

You can prepare the dip a day in advance and refrigerate it. Just bake it before serving to ensure it's warm and melty.

This dish can be served warm or chilled. We are a house divided. I prefer it warmed through.

For a spicier dip, add more Buffalo wing sauce or a dash of hot sauce.

I like to use an electric mixer to blend everything together. I find it creates a creamer dip.

A store-bought rotisserie chicken is a great time-saver and adds great flavor!

Try different combinations of cheese, like Blue Cheese Crumbles, for a tangy, unique taste.
